Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Wolverhampton


At an exciting time in its development, the University of Wolverhampton is seeking a new Dean of  Faculty of Science and Engineering. Renowned for its commitment to widening participation and its diverse student body, the University places students at the centre of everything it does and positions itself as a driver of social and economic transformation.

The Faculty of Science and Engineering is made up of four Schools: Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences; Architecture and Built Environment; Life Sciences; and Pharmacy. The new Dean will lead and nurture the Faculty, as it moves towards a new stage of growth. They will drive high performance and grow income in all areas of activity, develop an ambitious knowledge exchange agenda and refresh and update the curriculum. Reporting into the PVC Academic Leadership and Student Experience, the new Dean will play an important role in the broader leadership of the University; they will both champion the Faculty within the University and serve as external ambassador for the Faculty within the region.

Strong candidates will demonstrate a strong track record of delivery in an academic leadership post and excellence in a relevant discipline. They will be a proven leader, capable of taking staff with them, working effectively with students, and tackling complex challenges. Ideal candidates will have experience of developing and encouraging research output. They will be an inspiring and solutions-oriented leader, with a positive and energetic outlook, as well as practical expertise. They will be able to think strategically and plan for the long-term.
