Vice-Chair of Governors and Governors, Eltham College
Eltham College is an independent school that has enjoyed a run of success in recent years. The School educates c1,100 children, aged 7 to 18 in its Junior and Senior Schools which occupy a stunning and expansive 68-acre campus in Mottingham, South East London. The School has a gross annual income of approximately £21m, operates with a healthy surplus and employs c320 members of staff. Eltham College is also home to The Gerald Moore Gallery, and the Eric Liddell Sports Centre, both of which are used by pupils and the local community.
Eltham was founded in 1842 for the sons and orphans of missionaries. It has educated girls in its Sixth Form for over forty-five years and has recently decided to become fully co-educational. This transition is ongoing and is due to be complete by 2024. The strong ethos on which Eltham was founded remains today and the School’s Mission is to be:
A thriving, leading London day school, built upon Christian principles, that provides an outstanding and well-rounded education for girls and boys
The School has several strong partnerships with local state schools and will be launching an ambitious bursary programme in 2022 to create an endowed fund to enable students to attend regardless of their parents’ ability to pay.
The School is looking to appoint a Vice-Chair (and Governors) to its Board of Governors.
