Head of School, Medicine, University of Central Lancashire
Since its foundation less than a decade ago, the School of Medicine at the University of Central Lancashire has rapidly developed a reputation for innovation and a commitment to widening access. It has achieved full GMC accreditation, and delivers five courses at Undergraduate level, a Foundation programme, a comprehensive portfolio of Postgraduate programmes, in addition to several executive programmes across three campus sites in Preston, Burnley and Westlakes. It is looking to expand its programmes and activities over coming years, as well as building on its research profile. A significant proportion of its students are international, and the University recruits to its full number within the cap of UK students. It operates in new, state-of-the-art facilities, and has a number of successful partnerships both in the UK and overseas. There are a number of flourishing areas of research including the National Centre for Remote Rural Medicine and the Mackenzie Clinical Research Institute.
