Warden, Wadham College, University of Oxford
The Fellows of Wadham College intend to elect a new Warden to succeed Lord Macdonald of River Glaven, QC, and welcome expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates to lead a dynamic and confident community during a period of change and challenge for higher education and for society as a whole.
Wadham is known for the excellence of its education and research, its inclusive, friendly, and supportive atmosphere, and its enduring commitment to the principles of progress. Within the College, the successful candidate will be a purposeful chair of Governing Body, support education, research, and scholarship across all disciplines, collaborate effectively with college officers, engage with the undergraduate and graduate community, and represent the interests of college staff. They will also play a critical role in supporting the Development Office in its efforts to maintain and build relationships with alumni and benefactors to the College. They will be an advocate for the College within the University of Oxford and will represent the College and its values nationally and internationally, consolidating and building on the achievements of their predecessors and the wider college community.
Candidates must have a proven track record of leadership on a comparable scale. Whether or not they have recent and direct experience of university life, they must also demonstrate a clear commitment to the values of an institution which has academic excellence at its core.
Minerva will engage in fuller discussions with interested parties ahead of the shortlisting process, which will take place towards the end of 2020. The College expects to hold interviews for the Wardenship after December 2020. Initial interviews may take place remotely, with further rounds of interview/College visits subject to developing Covid-19 advice. The Warden is expected to be in post by September 2021.
For an informal and confidential discussion, please contact Kerry Shepherd or Jo Ogilvy at email@example.com. To apply, please send a covering letter and CV to firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for applications is Monday 5 October 2020.
