Lauren Cullen
Researcher
I hold a D.Phil. in English from the University of Oxford and an MA and BA (Hons.) from Queen’s University, Canada. My research asked what thinking about animals in fiction can tell us about our relationships with the nonhuman world, from keeping pets to species extinction. My research, teaching, and public engagement experiences have all centered on a drive to amplify neglected issues and voices.
A keen collaborator, I’ve been involved in team-based projects throughout my career, from coordinating a cultural exhibition to designing the website for an award-winning digital reading venture. I’ve been a speaker, mentor, and content creator for outreach programmes, roles which have fostered my passion for supporting access to Higher Education.
In my spare time, I love to explore new places, volunteer with animals, and read.
